Line Cook (full-time)
At Freedom a la Cart we are passionate about the survivors of human trafficking we serve, our customers, our volunteers, our business partners and our staff. Freedom a la Cart is an innovative, nonprofit social enterprise and workforce development program born to help survivors of human trafficking build a new life of freedom and self-sufficiency. What started as a single food cart is now a bustling catering company and café + bakery. We work hard, have fun and roll up our sleeves to empower survivors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in daily kitchen production/prep. Prepare food for service
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment
- Maintain quality food presentation and preparation
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow Director of Food and Beverage instructions
- Adhere to guidelines of food safety and sanitation
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Able to work under pressure
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Responsible for clean up and restocking
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- kitchen experience preferred
- Organized, detail oriented, multi–tasker
- Leads by example with “whatever it takes” attitude
- Great communicator
- Patience and compassion
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Most importantly, love to have fun while changing the world!
- Ability to stay calm in a high-stress situation
