Transitions, Reminiscing and Gratitude

A Note from Keturah Lee Schroder

I began my journey fighting human trafficking in Columbus as the Director of Communications and Volunteer Coordinator at Freedom (formerly Doma International). After writing a few grants, I was promoted to Director of Development and Communications and several months later, was again promoted to Managing Director.

Along the way, I got to meet all of you. You have encouraged and supported not only the ladies and the business of Freedom a la Cart, but me as well. I am thankful for all the coffees, lunches, and notes of encouragement that you have given me in the past few years.

It is with great joy that I announce that I am accepting yet another wonderful opportunity. I will be transitioning out of my role at Freedom and will be joining the CATCH team later this month.

A core aspect of Freedom’s mission is to empower survivors of human trafficking, and we work primarily with the ladies in the CATCH Court. The partnership between CATCH and Freedom began over 5 years ago and is stronger today than ever before.

This new role will bring with it even more opportunities to enhance Freedom’s supportive services and provide increased opportunities for greater impact in Central Ohio and beyond.

As I reminisce, I am filled with gratitude for all of you. I never could have imagined all the experiences and opportunities afforded to me in the last two years. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to all that the future holds as we continue to advocate for survivors and fight for freedom together.

With Gratitude,

Keturah Schroeder

A Note from John Rush

Over the last year Keturah has scaled Freedom a la Cart and positioned it as a very robust social enterprise that has a clear focus, strong core team and viable business model. Keturah’s transition to CATCH will further strengthen the partnership between our two programs and allow Freedom to hire an Executive Director who can continue moving our respective missions forward.

We are very excited about this next chapter in the life of Freedom and CATCH. Thank you for your continued partnership and support in our mission and for your passion to come alongside survivors as they pursue freedom, self-sufficiency, and true change.

Please note: You can view the job description and application process for the Executive Director position here. As we review candidates for this role, I will be the interim point of contact for any non-catering related questions or needs: John@freedomalacart.org. Julie Ann Layland will continue to successfully spearhead our catering arm and can be reached at julieann@freedomalacart.org or order@freedomalacart.org.

Sincerely,

John Rush
