Delivery Driver (full-time)

At Freedom a la Cart we are passionate about the survivors  of human trafficking we serve, our customers, our volunteers, our business partners and our staff.  Freedom a la Cart is an innovative, nonprofit social enterprise and workforce development program born to help survivors of human trafficking build a new life of freedom and self-sufficiency. What started as a single food cart is now a bustling catering company and café + bakery.  We work hard, have fun and roll up our sleeves to empower survivors. 

As a Catering Delivery Driver, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of catering orders, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with daily operations in our kitchen and cafe.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely and efficiently deliver catering orders to clients using one of our three vehicles, ensuring that all items are delivered on time and in excellent condition.
• Provide a high level of customer service when interacting with clients. Ensure a pleasant experience during drop-offs, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
• Handle multiple deliveries at once, plan routes efficiently, and manage time effectively to complete deliveries while balancing other duties such as preparing coffee in the morning.
• Between deliveries, assist in the catering kitchen with preparations for the next day, including organizing disposables, packaging, and other prep work as needed.
• Lift and carry multiple containers, bags, and catering supplies. Ensure that all items are properly organized and secured for transport.
• Use GPS to navigate to delivery locations and think on your feet when adjusting plans or routes as needed. Ability to read and follow directions is essential.
• Maintain open and clear communication with your supervisors and customers to ensure smooth operations. Promptly address any issues or concerns that arise during deliveries.
• Ensure that any issues with the delivery vehicles are immediately communicated to your immediate supervisor to ensure the vehicles remain in good working condition.
• A trauma-informed approach to communication and interaction is essential in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and carry multiple deliveries at once.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to remain pleasant and professional even in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances during deliveries.
• Comfortable with multi-tasking, including making coffee and assisting in kitchen prep when not on deliveries.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience with GPS navigation systems and ability to read directions.
• Experience in catering or food service is a plus but not required.
• A passion for serving others and a commitment to supporting survivors of trauma.
