Freedom Cafe at Northside Branch

Freedom a la Cart is stepping out into our first mini café. That’s right! We’re increasing our footprint in Columbus. Fans of Freedom will soon be able to visit us at the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s new Northside Branch.
The sleek, glass-front Northside Branch is not the library of the bygone days. The exciting space feels more like a modern community center with light infused work stations, large gathering areas, meeting spaces, reading rooms, and plenty of public computers. The setting screams for a bold cup of joe and fresh-baked pastry. It’s the perfect place to introduce a Freedom a la Cart mini café and we are overjoyed and honored to be partnering with the Friends of the Library in this new venture.
What to expect? The same attention to flavor, freshness, quality and service that our catering customers rely on. Our library café menu will offer a few Freedom a la Cart favorites and introduce several new cookies, sweet treats and seasonal pastry items crafted by our culinary team, along with fresh grab-and-go snacks, and espresso drinks featuring sustainable coffee from local roaster One Line Coffee.
It’s not just about the food, though. The library café will provide a new way to extend our mission in the community and will allow us to expand our workforce training program to include point of sale operation, customer service education and barista training. The development of these skills broaden our trainees’ marketability and will prepare the staff to move with confidence toward opening our own flagship café.
The new Northside Branch opens on June 22 at 1423 N. High Street in the sweet spot between the Short North and The Ohio State University Campus.

Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Friday & Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Sunday 1PM – 4:30 PM

The honorary name of the cafe is Annie Maude’s Cafe in honor of Annie Maude Battelle. Freedom a la Cart leases the space and operates the cafe – with our amazing staff and delicious, housemade products. You’ll notice the sign reads” Annie Maude’s Cafe operated by Freedom a la Cart.” Thanks for the question and the chance to clarify!
